What is the model number of the CPU you have? I think it must be
either a 3000+ or 3200+. In either case these are not 3 GHz CPUs.
Due to AMD's naming conventions there is sometimes confusion
concerning the actual clock speed of the Athlon processor. The 3200+
is actually 2.20 GHz and the 3000+ is 2.17GHz.

For a 3200+ the CPU External Frequency should be at 200 with a
multiplier of 11.
There are two versions of the 3000+ one a 333 the other is a 400.
For a :
3000+ 333 The External Frequency should be 166 - mulitplier of 13.
3000+ 400 The External Frequency should be 200 - mulitplier of 11.

There is a jumper on the motherboard that needs to be in the right
position too. Check page 21 of the manual. By default it is set for
newer CPUs like the XP.

Your memory needs to be set correctly too. If it is set wrong it can
cause random failures including the failure to boot into Windows.
The Memory Frequency setting is best at 100% assuming the RAM
is fast enough. PC3200 RAM is good to 400 and PC2700 to 333.

Thanks, got it going on 166 setting. Jumper on MB was correct. Now need to
get it to boot so I can install OS. Doesn't see my CD Rom.
