This may not be quite what you want, but in 10.3 ...
In finder, select Finder -> Preferences...
Select General.
Open new finder windows in: select "Computer"
Now the finder icon in the dock gives you that view.
And you already know how to put other views in the dock.
Also, you can put that icon in your sidebar.
