I've done it on my 8652C successfully. The only real difference I see
between a 8655c and 8652c is that the 8655 is 533 MHz and the 8652 is 550
MHz. Make sure you have the maximum 256 Meg of RAM for best performance.
All the drivers (except the MM keyboard) are in XP, even the blasted
Conexant sound card/modem combo. The keyboard will work when you upgrade,
but you'll lose the MM buttons and on-screen displays (volume, eject/load,
etc). You can find a MM keyboard display driver afterwards. The one I
found gives back the buttons and on-screen displays, but the connect light
doesn't work when you're connected to the Internet.

Scott.

I am now battling with the infamous freeze problem with Win98 SE. It
most likely occured when I used it with IE 5.5 (aka. cursor disappear,
<control><Alt><Delete> doesn't reboot). I have downloaded the latest
810 graphic driver from Intel, upgrade RAM to 192MB; freeze still
occurs.

What have you done with the freeze or if you are just lucky that you
don't have this problem

Thanks.

Doug

Why does this sound familiar? Win98SE was the main reason I upgraded to
WinXP. I was getting BSODs nearly every day, with the occasional freeze,
both in the program and while booting. One time I couldn't boot into 98 at
all and had to reinstall it (those recovery CDs are crap, BTW), and even
then it wasn't the same as when it was new (still getting blue screens).
Bought XP Home in late March/03 and haven't looked back. No freezes, no
problems.....S.
