It sure wouldn't hurt to call Dell and ask. If you really don't want the
monitor or warranty, and they want the sale, I'm sure they will let you do
that.

On the other hand though, Dell doesn't offer a choice of no preinstalled OS
on their computers. So even though nobody wants Vista... <ducks>

Seriously though...when I bought my Dimension 8300 I had to pick a monitor
even though I had a Viewsonic 19" tube at the ready. So I picked Dell's
cheapest 17" CRT, and I thought I wouldn't even bother taking it out of the
box until another monitor around here died. That didn't happen--and the
monitor has come in handy several times.

Hi!

> And Dell DOES sell operating system free computers.

I overgeneralized a bit. :-)

Back when I bought my Dim8300, I would have preferred an OS free model
and Dell seemingly had one known as the Dimension 8300N. I couldn't
find a way to buy it though.

So I just got one with XP Home (cheapest option) and ran Windows 2000
Pro on it like I wanted to do.

I was just about to say I thought the "N" series have no O/S, or come
with FREEDOS (like my XPS700).
