Try using the drive on someone else's computer. if it still doesn't
work,it *might* be the DVD laser. DVD and CD technologies use different
wavelengths on their lasers, so there are actually 2 different lasers
in the drive. I don't think its possible to tell if there is a laser
failure, nor do i think there is a way to replace a problematic laser.
