When you print out a configuration page, does it indicate the printer has as
much memory as it should?
Do you have an extra I/O card installed but not in use?
The "card slot" could be either a memory (ROM,RAM) or I/O slot. You might try
disconnecting the power cord, removing the PCB and re-seating any ROM, RAM or
I/O cards, and see if it makes a difference.
