Mike,
I did exactly the same thing on a new Pavilion 325C with Athlon XP
2400. I used Crucial. Very good service and great help in finding
the memory (my machine was not listed on their site). Use the online
help and they will point you to the correct memeory right away. I
paid about $75 for a second 512MB stick.
Installing is pretty easy. You have to move the CPU fan duct but it
is straight foward. You machine should have come with a book that
shows this, also I had it installed on my machine as a PDF file. Look
in HP>.
I'm surprised that you are getting memory warnings with 512MB. What
are you doing? I will be doing a lot of slide scanning and editing
with Photoshop Elements. I was a little concerned that 1Gig of ram
would be a bit of overkill, but the memory was so cheap. And I want
the machine to run as fast as it can.
