Install an AGP driver pack update from ECS or SIS.It should update the
IDE controller as well or run the mother board disk setup

Thanks Shep...& CPS 700....I D/Loaded & tried the AGP 116a
pack...didn't help anything. I installed the SIS735 #47a
package,, nothing changed. Reinstalled from the CD that came
with unit..Nothing changed.

This is happening on two K7S5a in 2 Minitower PCs..
Yes...SPS 700,,, I still have that problem on the ASUS MoBo,
where I have 2 HDs on the ATA100's & Burner & Reader on the
1st & 2nd IDE's..as Masters. It misses one of the 2nd IDE's
Reader sometimes & a reboot finds it.

I didn't use the 2nd IDE for CDROMs or extra HD in these
minitowers, so didn't miss them not showing.
One MoBo has BIOS V1.dtd 10/29/02. The other is older
AMIBIOS V1.21.06 dtd 12/15/01 Sis735.

Shep, I was thinking of flashing the BIOS with the Honey??
but need a source & I don't know what versions I have.
Maybe 1? or whichever or Pro? It's not marked on the board.
I thought V1.3 but not sure .

Then it has nothing to do with ther mother board.
Start here,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/drivers.html
And,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/hard.html
and,
http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/cdsetup.html
It's a software/driver- OS issue.
You'll find it

Robert... I did as you suggested... No difference.
It did run ScanDisk ,,one message was "page file?? in error
and another line about "Prefetch"... but it cleared & booted
OK. Still didn't see the CDRom on the secondary..
Was there in the BIOS with HD & Writer on IDE1..

I'll try Shep's suggestions in the AM... & report back.

Thanks

Provided everything is cabled/jumpered correctly, don't rule out dust in the
connectors or the rare possibility that the cable itself has gone bad. It's
rare, I've had maybe a dozen fail on me in 22 years, FDD, IDE, IDE66 and
SCSI-40pin and 68pin, but it can happen.
