The mighty mouse actual,ly had a "button". The top shell, when pressed
down, would "click" a button (sound was artificial). Logic checked to
see if you were on the left or right sinde or mouse when button was
switch was activated to guess if it was a left or right click.

Anyone know if the new "magic" mouse has a similar button inside that
detectes you "clicking" the mouse as opposed to logic that interprets
all fingers getting off and then back on surface of mouse as a "click" ?

Oh, yes! What a problem scrolling mouses are. After hardly 4 or 5 years,
the scrolling of my Logitech didn't work very well. So, I opened the
mouse and cleaned it. It's been working ever since, though I've lately
been using the new mouse I got with my new PC because it's black, like
the computer.

There's a mechanical switch, which also makes a definite sound.
Disconnect it from the Mac; powered off, it feels and sounds the same.

Unless very late in the game they changed the hardware a lot ... I've
been using the MM I just checked for a couple of years now.

Yes, but that's not what I'm talking about; I'm talking about the third
button that was built into the scroll ball.

Yes, it does; it's a mechanical click, just as with the Mighty Mouse.

Me 2. Holding the mouse while swaping your fingers left or right isn't
that easy... :-/

Actually, it wasn't difficult at all.

Alu MacBook's Multi Touchpad :-)

I tried it at the store too. The touch pad surface was definitely cool
but that's all it had going for it. The low height, narrow feet, and
sharp edges made moving it very uncomfortable. Two-button mode still
requires holding your fingers up off the plastic. It's neat but every
bit as much of an ergonomic failure as Apple's other mice.

The way I've always right clicked‹with Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and
similar MS mouses, with Apple's Mighty Mouse and with Magic Mouse when I
tried it at the Apple Store‹is to move my index finger from the left side
to the right side, and click with it.
