YOu still need to keep 2 sets of batteries for your mouse (one inside
the mouse, and one always charged, ready to be used when the nouse
batteries are drained).

And more importantly, you will have a period where mouse starts to be
unresponsive because batteries are being drained and you need to decide
if it is time to change them or not.

I much rather have a wired mouse.

Sure, but they are not specific to the mouse, I just keep a few charged
batteries all the time for the various gadgets.

Not that I noticed up to now - the computer will does tell me when it's
time.

That's perfectly fine - and it is still available, and may always be.

I just wanted to show that non-rechargeable batteries can be completely
eliminated, and that then using rechargeabel batteries in gadgets is
fine from an environmental perspective as well as very practical.

The sad thing is that they also seem to be dropping numeric keypads from
keyboards. Even if you don't want them for VT100 emulation purposes,
they are still very useful for numeric data entry.
