Thanks. I checked out the specs with hp for the paviliom 523n, and found
that it was a 512mb PC-2100 in the machine. Memory Suppliers has the PC-2100
512mb for $78. It does not say who the manufacturer is, unless the letters
PC is the name of the brand which I doubt.

I've had great luck using Corsair memory, look at their "value line" series.
