Jean,
I also use CA AV software. And there are some file types that it does not
play well with. I need to set in CA AV option's section, to exclude these
file types in Real-Time and On-Demand Scanner function.
1. In CA AV program under Advance Settings> Options> Click Modify for
Real-time
& On Demand Scanning> Select add> type "*.filetype" (w/o quotes). As an
Example, for a program I use as a Virtual Drive (Circle), I need to exclude
the file type it uses, *.HVD from the real-time and on-demand scanner
feature.
2. Another thing that you can do, CA AV program can be manually shut off
temporarily, using the "SNOOZE" feature.
Right click the Tray icon on the taskbar for CA AV> Select CA Anti-Virus>
Snooze.
3. But before doing this I would run a "Custom Scan" on the contents of the
A:\ drive first. To make sure that there are no problems with the files on
that drive. Never set the AV program to Exclude the contents of the A:\
drive.
4. If necessary, copy/paste the contents of the floppy disc to a folder, run
a Custom Scan, not an On-Demand scan (which is right clicking the folder,
and select CA AV program to scan), on the folder. And when you are satisfied
that it's contents are clean, then you can exclude that folder from the
on-demand, or realtime scan when opened in the future.

I am using CA Security virus program which is furnished by Insight. I should
have mentioned that I have used the System Restore without success, thanks
for your response.
