Some how I managed to get my new DELL Inspiron 6400 screen to go to
portrait mode instead of landscape. I thought I was using Ctrl alt del
when this happened.
I have XP Pro installed and the standard Intel graphics.
Is hard to do but I got into display proprites and it said the display
was 800 X 1280 instead of 1280 X 800.
Thanks for input.

if you click on one of the intel program icons in the system tray area,
you will see an option to rotate the display.
this should also be available from the video properties, maybe under
advanced.
soemtimes there are hotkeys associated with this, for those users who
have rotating flat panels, so they can rotate the display.
it could be you stumbled upon a hotkey by accident.

Yes there is a hot key.
I turned the laptop on the side so I could use the mouse and opened
control panel to find a Intel display applet. There was the info.
Ctrl/Alt + the arrow keys to rotate the display. Thank God there was a
check box to disable this feature.
As I said I was using the Ctrl/Alt keys and must have brushed the
direction key. Not used to a laptop keyboard(too flat)
