Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to extract the model number of a
router by accessing the router. I can extract the firmware but that is
no a unique parameter and different models of routers at times have
the same firmwave version.

Or is there any unique parameter which can help me identify which
router model it is?

Thanks

What kind of router are you talking about? Usually the model # is on
the case of the router.

Actually I wanted to find a means by which I can find out the router
number without having to look at the box..........using software.
When I ping the router, I obtain a header which contains certain
attributes like Realm. Earlier I assumed that the Realm was always the
router model.........but in reality it is possible to change it.

So I want to find if there is any unique attribute in the router
software so that I can find out the model and hence the firmwave
version of the router.

Thanks

Why? You want to hack into a router you don't have physical access
to? If so, shame on you. If not, I still see no reason to help.
This is because I believe you have malicious intent. See how your
story does not line up:

You earlier state that you can get router firmware info.

You then say in a later message (the most recent one):

> I want to find if there is any unique attribute in the router

So you want to find out the model and not the firmware info, so that
you can find out the firmware info. Hmmm...
