bought a leadtek k7ncr18d-pro (nforce2 non ultra + mcp-t + fsb333) yesterday
and now have a couple of problems:

first i couldn't even get to bios setup [blaming that on previous settings
overclocking my duron 1600 (applebred fsb133)]

stripped the system apart, leaving only agp card, hdd(80GB ata133) and one
stick of elixir ddr400 [have 3 jumper options for vmem: 2.5, 2.6, 2.7V -
tried all of them]

managed to clear the cmos by (alot) trial and error [phoenix bios; 3-pin
jumper to clear the cmos - manual doesn't state for how long to erase, also
mentions a jumperless reset by pulling the cord for 1 minute and pressing
the insert key ?before? the main power switch]

bingo!

loaded optimal(slow) settings, did a quick w2k setup - powered off [system
still barebone]

dejavu!

gave up after a couple of tries...

in the morning managed to enter the bios again but after making any
change(time/date, anything) and saving the settings to cmos, the screen
resets and goes blank - fans still going

managed to get to epa screen, stating: 'cmos checksum error'

now, after a couple of reboots it doesn't even get to the epa screen - only
fan spin & RJ45 lamp on...

?

bios reports 33-35° C + the fan works at 5600 RPM (nasa jet propulsion comes
to my mind and the neighbors)

No overheating then. I know what you mean about the 5600 RPM turbine
fans
How about voltages? What size and make PSU are you using? Other than
that, it sounds like a bad MB.

only 230W but that shouldn't be the problem since i'm using only one agp
card + duron + 1 ram + hdd/fdd
and that same psu supplied a dual cpu machine that was well beyond it's
spec'd power rating (dual hdd, dual cd/dvd, dual ram...)

i too blame it on the mobo
