hi,

I'm trying to connect the j7 front panel header but I can't tell on the
motherboard which side is pin 1 or which is pin 30

If it says it on the motherboard it must be microscopic because I can't see
it

thanks

Maybe you cannot see it in the paper manual, but if you download the PDF
version, J7 has a small square printed on pin 1. The diagram uses triangles
to mark some pin 1's and J7 has a square on it.

The pin 1 side is:

- next to the main power connector
- furthest from the edge of the PCB.

+----------------------+ x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
| 24 pin main power | x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
+----------------------+ ^
|
|
Pin 1

Verify with the manual to be sure.

Hint: The word "key" means "missing pin". Check the "missing pin"
pattern and compare to the J7 pinout in the manual. That should
make it much more obvious.

HTH,
Paul

Thanks for the help. I did find it in the manual, looking at the diagram
there was a tiny little square in the corner. That along with figuring out
that Key means no pin I was able to deduct which pin was zero.

Thanks
