Sandboxed!

Still trying to resolve issues between unix mail and Mail.app.
I can't figure a workaround for:

7/28/12 2:24:54.961 PM sandboxd[39878]: ([39147]) Mail(39147) deny
file-read-data /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Can anyone offer a suggestion?

what does

ls -l -e /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist say ?

( the -e shows the ACLs that may prevent you from accessing the file)


Also, that file should perhaps be in
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

(part of your own directory structure instead of the system's)

Note that on my system, this file exists neither in the /Library nor
~/Library


It is included in some of the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks ,
somwehere I would not be looking for.

I checked for ACLs, there are none. I finally renamed the file and that
error went away.

I don't think so; it was created by some version of Mac OS X

Does sandboxing depend on ACLs? I thought it worked by applications
declaring the resources that they need access to.
