Hi
I understand that I need a Wndows SATA driver to use my SATA
disk in my ABIT NF7-s Motherboard. Can anyone point me to the relevant
file please?

You should have received a floppy disc with your board, which has the
SATA drivers on it. During the install of Windows, you should be asked
if you wish to install third party SCSI (or similar) drivers. You then
press F6 (check with your board manual). The SATA drivers should then
install from the floppy and Windoze will continue to load.

There should have been a floppy disk with the board which has SATA driver on
it.
Try www.abit.com.tw or http://www.siimage.com/products/sataraid.asp (bottom
of the page for drivers link)

Problem is that Windows is already installed. I want to swap my disk
from IDE to SATA. Is it possible?

you should be able to install the driver from the flopy BEFORE swapping
over to the other drive; then it should install upon detection. [open the
floppy, find the inf file, right-click, choose install. this adds the
info to the driver database so that when the device is later detected it
can be used to install the driver].

Try doing that and install the SATA as a non-boot drive first, see if
window can detect and access it (does disk manager see it? explorer won't
until you use DM to partition it and give it a letter). If it sees it
then you can build it up as a system drive; you'll still need to do the
F6/floppy thing when running XP setup to init the drive.

Thanks for the help. I have now sorted it out by enabling the SATA
drive in BIOS and rebooting. I then found the device manager and
updated the drivers from the floppy which I had forgotten about.
