SC recording issue

I recently purchased a new sound card becasue the onboard sound on my pc had mic issues. I still have the same issue.... Im thinking its because I still have my on board sound installed.... I opened my device manager.... I dont know what to disable... anyone have any ideas? Would a screen shot help? Thanks... Ive tried 5 different mics... played around in the recording options on the sound properties... nothings muted... I need the mic for rosetta stone.. im moving to germany in a few months and I want to work on my speech
