scan behavior with laserjet 3030

hi, I get periodic problems with the scanner on this AIO, where it
will fail to scan from the glass, prompting intead for the document
feeder. Has anytone seen this , or know of a remedy? after several
tries, and/or computer restarts, it eventually works as desired, but
it IS annoying.
