Got another "blue screen of death" spinning ball in firefox while
uploading a file to a web site.

Also, X11 has problems with focus. Clicking on a window doesn't always
bring it to forefront, neither is selecting the window from the "Window"
menu. This seems sporadic and sometimes works perfectly, sometimes it
doesn't.

Does a window come into focus when you click the window's title bar?

Well, Apple had been guilty of _selling_ systems using the hard drive
maker's figues. For example my 2002 iBook was advertised as having a 20
GB disk and of course it was really only 18 GB. _I_ wasn't surprised
because at work we were migrating from 9 to 18 to 36 to 72 GB disks, but
if not for that I would have been peeved.

I've seen that reported before. Is it perhaps downloading an updated
version?

Every time I see any problems regarding Firefox, I always think the same
thing:

"Hey, every time I drop live wires into my bath tub it shorts. Think
there's something wrong with the electrical system in my house?"

With Tiger and Leopard, these issues never happened to me. Upgrade to
Snow Leopard and I start to get those.

I've seen those at worse with Firefox in Tiger and Leopard. If Firefox
works for you and you need it to continue to work, don't touch anything
at all. Because touching anything at all can break it.

Have you filed a bug report with Firefox lately?
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Bug_writing_guidelines
Also what did the Error Console say?

Which error console ? If it is one within Firefox, I wouldn't have been
able to get to it since Firefox was frozen.

Move your profile out of the way to force Firefox to create a new one.
That will get Firefox working again.
