Is some one here who solved the hibernation problem?

Hi, I have the following problem:

If I hibernate, then the computer will fail to recover from it. It
boots up, but, just before the GUI should appear, it freezes. There is
a black screen and nothing happens.

My configuration:

X1950 PRO graphics card with 512 MB RAM
6 GB RAM
Vista Home Premium x64, SP2
Intel Core 2 Duo 6420 processor, not overclocked
P965 mainboard from gigabyte

Ati Catalyst driver 9.3.1

I suspect that the catalyst drivers are at fault, it worked with older
drivers from a year or so, maybe longer ago.

But as you can see, their helpful reply is, that even if it's their
fault, it's highyl unlikeley that they will fix it (because the
graphic card, which was released at the end of 2006, is too old..)

Had some one here a similiar problem and fixed it him/herself?
