I have until now been using 2 speakers with my PC. I am running XP, and
I have an NF7-S 2.0 and the following drivers:
NVIDIA nForce audio codec interface, 6.14.431.1, 3/26/04
NVIDIA nForce MCP audio processing unit

I just bought a set of Logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers. No matter what I
do, the rear speakers produce no sound. They are definitely on, and if
I switch them with the front speakers they work there. I just can't get
rear audio to work. I've checked and I have the right cables plugged
into the right ports.

Is there anything obvious I'm missing? Where should I troubleshoot
first? Other than a physical problem with the speaker cable(s), I don't
know what it could be other than something with the NF7's I/O panel.

From the back of the amp, two wires go into the computer
-put the black in blue, and;
-put the green in green

-select No#1 'rear speakers connected to line in' double click speaker
icon brhs/advanced
-select 'no digital' output in 'speaker setup' in nForce Control Panel

Don't know about Logitech Z-640 5.1 but the above worked for altec
lansing ATP5 set !
