Static from power adapter?

When the PA-10 power adapter is operating I hear static on the
speakers of this otherwise perfect laptop. Another adapter does
not cause such static.

Presumably there's something arcing in the adapter causing the
noise, or a bad filter cap. Is this a frequent occurrence? I
wonder whether I should wait for it to fail completely or
replace it now.
