I recently put back into service a Abit NF7 ver 2 motherboard with a AMD unlocked 2500. The
strange thing is that the cpu temperature is different depending whether it is cold booted, been
off for over three hours, or warm booted such as a restart. with a cold boot the CPU temperature
is within 15 f, or 6 c, of the mb temp but upon a warm boot the temperature difference is about 30
, or 16c, of mb temperature. Even with running Sandra burn in the system never get above 47c with
a warm boot so the system does not have a overheating problem, it's just that I find it strange
that the temperature difference changes fro cold to warm. I have used both the ABIT EQ and
Motherboard Monitor Probe, MBProbe and they both return similar temperature so I think the
readouts are close to correct. Any idea what's going on?? Any response appreciated, other than
spelling and grammar correction.

Check the actual cpu speed with WCPUID in both situations. My nfs7v2 has
started coldbooting at the saved bios settings but warmbooting at a lower
default fsb value.

Also it no longer powers down normally but instead always restarts, and I
have to manually turn off the powersupply to get it to shutdown. The two
occurrences are undoubtedly related, perhaps an aging capacitor or
motherboard battery? It's a few years old now.
