I am looking to replace an old 733MHz celeron with something faster so
I'm looking to replace the existing cpu/mobo with something in the
1.5GHz range and I prefer to have Elite board.

Requirement:

must have one 4x/8x AGP slot as I have a spare 4x/8x card and I don't
want to be stuck with an old 32MB PCI card that I'm currently using.

At least 2 PCI slots (one for wireless adapter, and one for IDE card
if the onboard IDE has problem with 160GB hard drive)

Must be able to support at least 512MB RAM, have 2x 256MB PC133/266
and 512MB PC2100 on hand if it can be used. Other speed DDR is OK but
will need to buy and no RAMBUS (PC600 or PC800), don't have any and
they cost too much.

any CPU except Celeron. Celeron is like a lawnmower engine compared
to a Hemi of Pentium or AMD

Onboard sound prefered as some games just won't run without sound
system even if I don't use it at all.

Anything else is optional (serial, con, parallel, onboard video are
not needed)

Any suggestion? I'll probably get an used mboard and CPU from eBay.
I don't have much money at the moment (too much Christmas shopping)

ECS K7S5A PRO
It comes with two PC133 SDRAM slots
It also comes with 2 DDR slots, but you can not use both types of
memory at the same time.
Max cpu 2600/266, or faster with AMD XP-M (mobile)
The AGP slot is X2/X4, so your AGP X4/X8 card will work.

ECS K7VTA3
Version 6.0 or later supports the 166mhz(333)bus speed, so will accept
faster cpus,
up to AMD 3000/333.
Only comes with 2 (some 3) DDR slots.

Fry's Electronics will have some good cpu/motherboard
combos with the K7VTA, $50-$60.

My advice would be to get a KT600-A ( http://tinyurl.com/yutr6 ). You can
use any 266FSB Athlon XP with your PC2100 DDR, and I'd advise you to get a
2400+ (before they are phased-out). The KT600-A supports 200/266/333/400FSB
processors, so you can upgrade to a better Athlon XP (or high-end Sempron)
in the future.
