Anyone know can a bad motherboard battery cause a system clock to start
running fast? Lately my A7N8X deluxe board is picking up quite a bit of
time. I've reset the bios to defaults a few times and just took the battery
out and put it back again but am wondering if the battery might be getting
old.

Why not just get Atomic Clock, it uses the web to keep your clock running
correctly. I remember in the old days, Jill of the Jungle, would play havoc
on my system clock. It would be off DAYS with just one play of the game.
Perhaps you have something screwing with your clock.

There has been plenty of discussion about this in the past. This is one
thread about the time keeping problem, on Nforcershq. It is not a
battery issue.

I have the A7N8X-E Deluxe and have, in the past, had problems with the
clock. Same issue, always many minutes into the future. Generally a
minimum of 10-minutes fast after about a 12-hour to 18-hours period. I've
found that this only happens when I have left the computer doing
processor-intensive work over a long period of time (generally over-night or
longer.) If the computer sits idle, the time issue is not present.

It only seems to effect the system if the processor frequently hits the 90%
to 100% mark over an extended period of time. Not constantly at those
figures, but very frequently into that range. Must just be a flaw with the
board, or maybe the BIOS... I have just lived with it, making sure that I
re-sync the time if I leave the system doing any time of processor-intensive
work over a period of time.
