Re: cpu failure...or is it? no beep, no post, etc.

Out of curiosty, why do you have to cut power to the mobo? My mobo has a
jumper that you can switch in order to clear the cmos. j/w.....

Because it has been known for cmos corruptions and cmos death when it is
done without cutting power, I have never seen any mobo instruction that does
not tell you to cut power when performing a cmos clear.

On some boards, if you leave the power cord connected (or main switch on
back of PS on) the clear cmos jumper won't work as the standby power keeps
the cmos intact. I always pull the power cord, set the jumper and pull the
battery for at least ten minutes. Works every time I tried it.
