well, that's where I started too! now I'm hip deep in laptops, and mainly
self-taught. I do have about ~10 CP's, CPi's & CPiA's in various states of repair. Lets go thru the parts that I would check, the inverter, about $10-$25 on eBay, easy to get at and easy to change out, lcd cables, never priced them I have too many extras laying around, but they are easy to change out, the LCD itself,$40-$100 on eBay depending if it's a 12.1" or 13.3", also easy to change out. The video card involves more disassembly of the lower case, not hard, time consuming, but be patient. More stuborn ones have main board problems that I do not know how to fix. You can email me if you have questions, need pictures or help..... hope that helps..... I'm not an expert but just enjoy playing with these machines and fixing them up...... the main thing to remember is patience with a laptop, cuz you can mess up a pretty laptop with a flat blade screwdriver pretty quick.... strange_too wrote: > tugnut wrote: > > > The best world is to have two CP's sitting side by side, one that works > > completely, > > so you can swap parts and find the faultly one.
