SanDisk Card Reader error

I have borrowed a USB card reader and I hooked it upto my laptop
running Win 2000 Sp4. Without the card in the reader, I can see the
drive in "My Computer" and Explorer. If I put the card in the reader,
the system does not read the card. Any help will be appreciated.
