My system at home started acting up a couple of weeks ago and I'm
trying to figure out if it's my video card dying, W2k freaking out or possibly a virus that Norton can't see. It is a P3-500. Has a Stealth Diamond S540 video card. It is now showing some icons on the desktop in what appears to be 256 colors rather than the true color it is supposed to. I cannot launch Diablo II. I says it has encountered an error loading DirectDraw. It appears to only be certain icons, not all. IE 6, Illustrator 10, Corel 10 to name a few that show funny. I have tried everything I know how to do. Double check display settings, reinstall adapter drivers, reinstalled windows over itself. It is using the same monitor I've had on it for 3 or 4 years. A Socos 17" display. The only things I can figure are: a. The video card is dying or b. Windows has freaked out and I'll have to reformat. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks, Jason |

Try TweakUI for Win2k. It has a rebuild icons feature.
