This WIN2K 1GHz system had been shutting down, etc. for my daughter so I
told her," Don't download all those frigging Kazaa, WinAmp, etc., etc.
programs. There's no telling what you got on your computer."
Norton AV had blown up and quit working so I expected a clean install would
do the trick.

I had a ghost image of the original fresh install and reloaded it. I also
downloaded the latest SandraMAX3 and ran the burn-in wizard. Several crashes
later I began playing with the 2 sticks of 256MB DDR2100. If either one of
them is in the system (DIMM 1) then it seems to work okay. If both are in it
blows up pretty regular. I re-flashed the BIOS and updated the video driver
but that didn't change anything.

It appears the problem is related to the DIMM slot rather than the ram
itself. The manual indicated that you should fill the 3 DIMM slots in
numeric order and not skip one.

Any ideas or like experiences?

Thanks
John

Have you tried setting the memory timings to "normal" if they're on "fast or
turbo". Some memory just isn't up to the task when paired up.

My board had one stick of Mushkin 256Mb 2100 ram (the hi-perf stuff).
I tried different sticks of 256Mb crucial 2100 and it would recognize
neither. RMA'd both. The Mushkin was recognized in any slot. I haven't
had the balls to buy more ram. Recently an epox tech said they prefer
Crucial and have had more problems with Mushkin. Go figure. It depends
on the day.....

Damn, I'm suprised. I've got 2x256 of Mushkin in my 8KHA+, it's run great
for 18 months. I love it. Good luck...
