My USR /3COM PCI hardware modem shows up in Dev. Mgr. alright, but the
diagnostics report it does not respond, and I cannot dial out with it. I've tried other COM port settings and moved it to a different slot, but so far no go. I even swapped in my old PCI modem, and it would not work either. Any ideas? |

You have to use Slot #1 or #5 and don't disable com ports!!

Well, it turned out to be the modem, a USR 2976 OEM. We dropped in a
Winmodem and a retail USR 5610B, and both worked perfectly. What a pain in the ass! "Jeff Hansman" <> wrote in message news:2tQNa.259$.. . > My USR /3COM PCI hardware modem shows up in Dev.
