Hi,
I am having a *big* problem with my SN41G2. My spec is: - AMD Athlon XP 2400 (266mhz FSB) - 512 MB PC2700 DDR RAM - 80 GIG UDMA 100 Hard disk - Samsumg DVD/CDRW Combo Drive - WindowsXP Professional Ok, heres the problem: I've had this system running fine for a few months now. But yesterday I realised that it was actually running at 1800mhz and not 2400mhz. I checked the bios and, as expected, the FSB was set at 100mhz. But instead of changing it to 133mhz, I accidently changed it to 166mhz... eek! yes, i am *that* stupid!! Anyway, after saving the setting to bios, I restarted the machine. But it never started up ... properly: I do not get any signal on my monitor and the keyboard and mice (both PS2) are not recognised. However I do get power, the cd drive spins etc and the sounds are all normal. I unplugged the mouse + keyboard and restarted again, but I wasnt greeted with bleeps I hear on my other PC when these devices are absent. I have no idea what has happened, but Im sure the mobo hasn't blown since there is power. As for solutions, I dont really have any I've never had such aproblem before. Therefore I would be very very grateful for any advice you guys can give. Actually. I am considering clearing the CMOS with the CLEAR CMOS jumper (JP1). Is that likely to solve this? Thanks in advance QASIM |

reset CMOS using jumper on motherboard - it should default to 100MHz FSB.
You should be able to start the machine, enter BIOS and reset correctly Unless you have fried the chip in the meantime. Try this to get your SN41G2 in a bootable condition:
Turn off computer, UNPLUG power cable, wait 30 sec, replug power cable. Press <Insert> key, press start button - keep holding <Insert> until the system begins the POST tests. Immediately press <del> to enter the BIOS Select 'Load Optimised Defaults'; Save and Exit setup Reboot |

That because a certain piece of hardware is missing: The on-board speaker! > Actually. I am considering clearing the CMOS with the CLEAR CMOS > jumper (JP1). Is that likely to solve this? Try the "Power-Off/Press Insert Key/Hold Insert Key Down/Power-On/Keep Pressing Insert" until you see signs of life first. It beats having to open up the Shuttle. |

Im confused now. Help! ![]() |

If you have an nforce2 motherboard try holding down the insert key when you
power up and then the delete key to enter bios. Otherwise clear cmos with jumper on mobo and start again. But yesterday > I realised that it was actually running at 1800mhz and not 2400mhz. Dude... Athlon's are rated based on a PR system, not pure Mhz. An Athlon 2400+ does NOT run at 2400Mhz. In fact, there are NO Athlon's currently made that run at 2.4GHz. The 3200+ runs at 2.2GHz. I run dual 2.2Ghz's, and there is a HARD cap coming on this architecture... > I > checked the bios and, as expected, the FSB was set at 100mhz. If your CPU was running at 1800Mhz, it's a PR 2200+. > Anyway, after saving the setting to bios, I restarted the machine. > But it never started up ... properly: > > I do not get any signal on my monitor and the keyboard and mice (both > PS2) are not recognised. I am considering clearing the CMOS with the CLEAR CMOS > jumper (JP1). Is that likely to solve this? That SHOULD work, but as others have mentioned, you can hold the insert key on power up to reset the FSB function down after a bad overclock... Venger |
