I just finished a very smooth upgrade from a Soyo K7VTA Pro to a Shuttle
AK32 E running a 1700+ Tbred. It is a faster board than the K7VTA Pro using a benchmark and does not have the trouble booting I often had with the Soyo when I moved to 133 fsb with the Tbred. Shuttle makes a sweet board that certainly is good for the low price. I may start overclocking after I run it for a week problem free. I use VCool with win xp to keep temps fairly low. Found that Vcool 1.7 must be upgraded to one of the 1.8 betas. But the latest 1.8beta10 does not work with this board, I had to use beta9. Reported the problem to the author of VCool. You also have to enable the halt as well as the cool bit, but don't enable the idle loop: that actually causes this board to run warmer, unlike the Soyo. I'm quite pleased with the Soyo board, stable, very few upgrade hassles. -- Dennis Roark Starting Points: www.home.earthlink.net/~denro |
