Hello all
The Shuttle MB advertised on the ztgroup website (authorized reseller) is the SK51G and not the SB51G that is often discussed here. Does anyone know the difference between the "K" and "B" versions? It's at: http://www.ztgroup.com/config.asp?model=x6081 Also, has anyone had experiences, positive or negative, with purchasing a pre-built (customized via their website) from ztgroup.com? Finally has anyone had linux success, right out of the box, with the SB/SK51G? I plan to use the onboard video, sound, and ethernet. No add-on video (it'll mostly be used as a sever). Though I'm well versed in RedHat linux, I don't know if it's a risk to try linux on this particular shuttle MB. Especially given I'd like to max it out with the 2.8 Ghz CPU, 120 GB drive, and a gig of RAM. Hope I don't end up with a very expensive shuttle doorstop TIA. Neall |

I've gotten rh9 linux to run well on these 2 models..
SB52G2, SS51G the ss51g is a pretty good deal, for $179 at newegg.com $400 total for 2ghz cel 120gb special edition 8mb cache westerndigital harddrive 256mb 2700 ddr ram although I am thinking the 1.7a p4 would be a much better processor.. can't beat that for a small server... one item to note...if you use a celeron 2ghz, you need to use the
following... kernel-2.4.20-19.9.i686.rpm and make sure you use kernel-source-2.4.20-19.9.i386.rpm instead of kernel-2.4.20-19.9.src.rpm if you have to use build/compile stuff if you use the stock kernel that comes with rh9, your celeron cache gets read wrong at 8k instead of 128k hope this helps someone! bob Linux Doctor <> wrote in message news:<Pine.LNX.4.56.0307290849140.11400@unhtugznvy .pbz>... > Hello all > > The Shuttle MB advertised on the ztgroup website (authorized reseller) is > the SK51G and not the SB51G that is often discussed here.
