With some borrowed Duron 700 MHz everything works fine, but not with
my 1.3 GHz one.

What's the difference? The system turns on but doesn't attempt to boot
anyway.

Just like the CPU won't be recognized.

What can I do? Some unfriendly support member told me "it has to
work". No help anyway.

Maybe your cpu is bad. Did you test your cpu in his system?

His board is too old to support the 1.3 GHz Duron. Our computer center
gave the PC to their major local computer supplier to test it. I have
to wait for the results.

I doubt that two CPU's from different stores would be defective.

Breaking News: Both Duron 1.3 GHz CPU's work!! A trustworthy local
dealer tested both and they work. He will get me an ASUS board that is
slightly cheaper and offers the same characteristics (different Chip
set). I will return the SOYO board to the on-line dealer.
