Is it ok, or not recommended to use different brands of memory at
the same time?

If it works it's okay. If it doesn't, it won't hurt anything, so go ahead
and try it. I have done this before, but the more aggressive you set your
memory timings, the more important it is that the memory be good. If you
are trying to run at defaults and you are not overclocking, you'll
probably be fine.
