This is really strange, on the post screen, everything is squiggly like I am
trying to run 1024x768 on a monitor that only does 800x600, the Windows XP does it as well, but when I get to the user login screen it all looks fine and so does Windows. If I hit delete, it loads the bios and I can read it as well. Running a 3n1 combo with a SY-K7VEMPRO board. Please help! |

I'm sure you have, but you didn't say so I'll ask if you've
tried different monitors. Perhaps yours is psychotic at 640x480. Then again, try a video card swap. Or, replace your memory and power supply :-) (inside joke). I had a video card that was truly weird in DOS, but happy as a clam in Windows (this was 95, iirc). Though it indeed could be the monitor--remember the video card changes modes as it goes from what is effectively DOS into full Windows mode. -- -denny (curmudgeon) "I'm full of good answers--sometimes it's the question that's wrong." Try disabling onboard video in your BIOS, and then try a video card.

Cuz it's defective? I've given up wondering why my KT400 onboard LAN hardware and/or driver raises hell with XP lockups when used in conjunction with the onboard sound. I just shoved a cheap ethernet card in there and moved on. Life is too short. Either return the board (perhaps in favor of a non-Soyo product, considering your luck with Soyo), or push a PCI video card in there (last I checked WalMart was clearing out rather nice PCI Radeon cards for less than $50.00). If your video card has a jumper for TV, make sure the jumper is set to
NTSC, not PAL. |
