Hi Folks,

I have done previous deployments of Tablet PC's from an XP Pro SP1
installation following documentation from:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../sitpcdep.mspx

and its worked pretty well. But now I have a non SP1 SOE that the
client REALLY wants to get on a tablet and REALLY don't want SP1 (its a
long story). Is it possible to bet it working like that on a non SP1
platform?

Rgds

Paul

I don't understand the motive, Paul. You really, really need XP SP2 and the
Tablet PC Edition 2005 on the system - if for nothing else but the security
advancements. Otherwise, you might as well install a regular Windows XP Pro
on there.

The motive is that they run applications that they have had written for
them a while back that don't work with either SP1 or SP2, and they
don't want to pay to get someone to re-write them. I've pushed for SP1
and/or SP2 but will they listen? No. So I'm HOPING you will say "what
you want isn't possible unless you upgrade" so I've got a toy the
senior partners want that requires the upgrade - its all about
motivation.

If, however, it is possible pre SP1 then I'd love to know how cos I've
tried.

Cheers

Paul

There is no way to have Tablet PC functions with straight Windows XP Pro,
Paul. Does that work? 8-) Windows XP came out in 2001, and the Tablet PC
Edition superset in 2002, based on SP1 as I recall. You wouldn't want the
original XP Pro SP1 and Tablet PC Edition, especially in a business
environment because of the additional security features in SP2. The current
one is so much better.

Go with the Compatibility Mode method:
