Thinkpad 560 and 40 gig drive?

Hi Folks,

I've got a Thinkpad 560x, and I am wondering if anyone
has tried installing a drive as large as 40 gigs into it.
I have heard of 20 gigs, but I am hoping that 40 is not
too much.

Also, several people have mentioned using dynamic drive
overlay or DDO. What is that? Is it necessary for
using the drive with Linux?

you will need to use the DDO (is some special insruction in the master boot
record on the HDD that is overlayed on the bios because of bios limitations)
for DOS, win95,98,me,nt,2k.

I've heard linux and winxp can get around the bios limitation. On the TP 560
the BIOS limitation can cause the TP not to boot if the disk is too big. you
might need to use disk capacity limiting software and this might be a few
hours of trial and error.

For what its worth, I have done exactly that but with a Thinkpad 600e.
Nothing special needed except a FLASH.
