Hi to you all,
first a brief introduction, as it is my first post here. I am a 41 year
old journalist living in Munich/Germany, and currently I try to take care
for an IBM thinkpad 760E my father bought 2nd hand for using it during
his holiday travels. The thing does not have a cd rom drive, nor an
ethernet plug or an USB plug. It runs under Win95, and as the TCP/IP
protocol is not installed, I do not know how to contact that beast in
order to put some new software on it. I have two Win95 CD ROMs, but I'd
like to install Win98 (which I have only on CD ROM) and an USB card
adapter.
Here are my questions:
1. Does anybody know definitely if the Thinkpad 760E supports Cardbus
cards? This is important, as I have learned that there are no USB
adapters available which follow the old PC Card standard.
2. Can anybody help me with installing the TCP/IP protocol for Windows
95? It might help me with integrating the Thinkpad into my home network,
so I could access the harddisk via LAN.
3. The IR port does not work. Is that a Win95 thing? Under Win98 I could
interchange data with another notebook.
4. Does anybody know of a cheap freeware program for transmitting data
between two com ports via cable? It should be able to run from
diskette...
Thank you in advance
Frank
