ThinkPad T40p: Fan Noise Tests

Hi All,

my 3 weeks new T40p makes that strange,metalic
noise at the left side of the corpus. As if there is
a fly under my keyboard. Its just in the area of the Tab-Key.
Its not that loud but very penetrant if you work with
the laptop for hours. I am not sure if its a "fan"
problem. I have noticed that the noise increases
if i touch the mousepad. If I move a window
or use the sliders it becomes more apparent.
Especialy resising chat windows of Trillian make
the noise very noticebale

I have found out that the noise
dissapears in the following cases:

- in Pre-Desktop Area i hear no noise

- while in BIOS

- on BOOT Process

- when recording Audio with standard AudioRecoder of XP,
the noise disappears (for my ears)
but stangely the noice is very hearable in the recording cuz the micro
is in the top left corner of the corpus, thats where the
noise actually comes from. ==> all recordings with the
built in micro are crapy and full of noises

- mouse movement seems to enforce the noise,
typing wont.

My Bios update date : 10-30-03
Infrared , Com , LPT Ports : Disabled


Can any1 with the same problems try out those steps !?
