Start with a desktop that has several folder aliases on it (that is,
aliases to folders that are in your Home folder on your HD).
Have a TextEdit doc open on this desktop (maybe other apps as well;
haven't tested).
Close (or Save) that doc, so now no windows are open.
**The folder aliases on the desktop -- or at least some of them -- are
missing the bottom left arrows that indicate that they are aliases.**
If you click on them individually, when you click they recover their
arrows.
I'm having a little trouble getting this to happen reproducibly -- but
I've certainly noticed it happening multiple times, on repeated
occasions.
Mac iBook G4, OS 10.9.3, pretty vanilla single-user setup, no
particularly wild non-Apple stuff installed.
