Two config issues

I'm a Mac OS X newbie with a long Unix background.

Under System Preferences -> International (IIRC) I configured my
system (Tiger, for now) to use metric units. But the Dashboard weather
widget is displaying temperatures in Fahrenheit. How can I change
that? And BTW where does the weather information come from?

Also, how can I tell the system to use a different NTP server than the
2 or 3 choices provided? I have my own stratum 2 server that the rest
of my network syncs to, and would like to use that instead.

The Dashboard widget has a separate setting. Click on the "i" which
appears in the bottom right corner of the widget when you point to it.
This will flip the widget over, and you can choose the temperature units
and a few other settings.

This also reveals that it uses AccuWeather.com.

The time server field is editable. Select the text and type in the IP
address or domain name of your NTP server.

Ahh, and here I was wondering where they'd hidden File->Preferences...

Didn't think of that, I thought I'd have to edit /etc/ntp.conf.

Thanks!

I'll have a look, thanks. I saw your discussion about this from
earlier this year while I was browsing the newsgroup archive before I
posted.

Well not really, its purpose is simply to prevent a number of my own
NTP clients from bothering the big boys, and it isn't visible outside
the network. It connects to a nearby open access stratum 1 from this
list:
