Unable to Install Windows XP

I am trying to upgrade from Windows ME to XP home edition.

During installation the Setup program freezes, giving the following error message:
"Library Load Failure error 1157 485
Appname winnt32.exe Appver 5.1.2600.1106"

Running Upgrade Advisor before installation gives the same problem.

Any suggestions ? I don't really want to do a clean install of XP.

Upgrades from WinMe to XP are famous for going bad. You would be far better
off over the long run to do a clean install and avoid nasty Registry errors.
