to update the software in our procurve 4000m switch (in order to
install the gigabit module we got), i had to telnet into it (not a big
deal) and have it download the update via TFTP. the software HP
provides has no provision for setting up a TFTP server to download the
software from. i was forced to download a 3rd party TFTP server and
run it on my workstation. this was not a big deal, but am i wrong in
thinking there should be an easier way to do this? my consumer grade
router/switch at home let's me _upload_ new firmware to it though its
web interface (not _download_ it from a separate server)
