It all depends on what you expect to accomplish by installing Vista. Be VERY
careful to make sure that Vista supports all the devices you use with your
computer, including printer, scanner, audio chipset, video chipset, Ethernet,
etc. Otherwise, you might install Vista and find out that drivers and
supporting software simply are not available. In other words, look before you
leap.
Also, figure on at least 2GB of memory to use Vista comfortably, regardless of
the Microsoft bullshit hype. Vista performs in all of its glory with a 256MB
video card.
Rather than doing a true upgrade, back up all your important personal data, wipe
the hard drive clean, and start from scratch. You can still use the upgrade CD
to do so, but the procedure (documented on the web) is a little bit tricky...
