Upgrading processors on V20z?

I've obtained a V20z with two 2.4GHz Opteron 250s. I've seen one web
forum post which suggests that these can be upgraded to dual core
Opteron 280s also at 2.4GHz.

I take it that I'd have to change the RAM for DDR/400 registered modules
to make this work, but was wondering if anyone has tried this upgrade
and can they reports success or warn of any pitfalls?

Any comments on suitable PCI-X eSATA boards would also be welcome.
