it will work, but there are advantages to getting a desktop specific usb
hub.
one feature that some desktop hubs have is longer cable so that you can
connect the usb hub to the desktop under the desk but keep the usb hub up on
top of the desk (making it easier to connect/disconnect devices). they
don't show the cable in the link you provided but i suspect it is very short
(under a foot).
another feature of a desktop hub is that some have vertical facing ports.
these are great for inserting memory sticks or small music player type
devices into.
and perhaps the most important feature of desktop hubs vs laptop hubs is
that some desktop hubs are powered (meaning they have their own ac adapter)
and so can support a broader variety of devices that draw power via the usb
port.
